MARIN COUNTY, CA — The Central Marin Police Authority is presenting its first Citizen Police Academy, with classes to begin this fall. The Citizen Police Academy (CPA) starts Thursday, Sept. 8, with classes held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for eight weeks. CPA is free and open to all Larkspur, Corte Madera, and San Anselmo residents age 18 and over. CPA offers community members an inside look at law enforcement and the opportunity to gain a better understanding of their police department. The course is designed to provide an overview of the agency’s function and operational procedures. In the weekly presentations by department personnel, students are introduced to a wide range of topics and learn about different areas of police work, such as CSI, Detectives, Special Response Team, DUI investigation, and much more. Also included is a tour of both police stations and the opportunity to go on a ride-a-long with a uniformed patrol officer. More from Across Patch POLL: Should Assault Weapons Be Banned?
