Ross Valley firefighters are investigating a fire in downtown San Anselmo near the Ross border.

The fire broke out shortly before 2 p.m. on San Anselmo Avenue between Belle and Bolinas avenues. The property includes a three-story building.

Caesar Chang, the owner of Caesar’s Cyclery at 29 San Anselmo Ave., said the flames were not far from his shop and sent off “really black” smoke. He said he could see two redwood trees and a fence burning.

“It was really going strong for a while,” Chang said.

Firefighters had the fire under control in about 15 minutes. No injuries were reported.
