One could say real estate has been in David Swaim’s blood all his life. At 18, he performed a lot split on his family property and built a cash-flowing rental that he still owns today. While attending college at 20, he bought his first home. Soon after graduating from the University of California, Sacramento with a B.A. in business administration, he became a licensed California real estate agent and began selling and developing property throughout Northern California. He was named Rookie of the Year at his previous brokerage after selling the most real estate of any first-year agent.
Over the years, David continued to sell and develop the property. While developing 20-plus properties and settling into a career in property development, he met and married Kira, a badass, hardworking corporate executive. At the time, he thought that if he wasn’t careful, he would end up a stay-at-home dad, and as much as he loved fatherhood, that didn’t sound that appealing. So he convinced Kira to quit her job and start Tam Realty with him, so they could both work and parent.
The rest is history, and for nearly two decades, they have crushed it in the Marin real estate market. David and Kira both believe in being honest, and straightforward, and doing what is right for their clients no matter what. It’s not rocket science — but, surprisingly, not everyone follows that mantra.
Outside of his blossoming real estate career, David was a planning commissioner for over 10 years in the town of San Anselmo and was also the president of the Sleepy Hollow Homes Association and a volunteer for the San Anselmo Public Works Department. David is also an avid sports fan, and after having to hang up his cleats and basketball shoes, he became quite a fantasy sports player. He’s a San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan as well as a huge Warriors fan, but David’s true love is watching his daughter, Mina, play basketball or his younger daughter, Coda, score goals.
